Heavyweight performance in a lightweight lens
Mobility meets precision with the Model A035 ultra-telephoto lens
eBAND Coating delivers sharp, clear photos
The Tamron 100-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD (Model A035) is a highly portable, ultra-telephoto zoom lens with AF precision for shooting in-the-moment action clearly and easily. 3 LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements are used and effectively positioned to take away aberrations that are known to occur with a telephoto lens. And Tamron?s proprietary eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating prevents reflections, giving you clearer, more vivid images. With a lens barrel made primarily of magnesium at selected area, the Model A035 is the lightest zoom in the ultra-telephoto category*, making it ideal for handheld shooting over long periods of time. Plus, Moisture-Resistant construction and a Fluorine-Coating on the front element provide additional protection when shooting outdoors.

Precise AF tracking and VC (Vibration Compensation) are essential for ultra-telephoto lens performance. That?s where Tamron?s Dual MPU high-speed control system comes in. It features an MPU (micro-processing unit) with a built-in DSP (Digital Signal Processor) for superior signal processing, plus a separate MPU dedicated exclusively to vibration compensation. With enhanced AF response speed and VC, you can accurately shoot fast-moving subjects with stability and ease—even in low-light.
Precise, responsive AF performance
A built-in DSP (Digital Signal Processor) on the MPU delivers highspeed processing of digital signals, while ensuring excellent AF responsiveness. This improvement allows you to track subjects moving at high speeds, even more accurately. The AF drive system also uses a USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) motor for outstanding performance and fast, precise focusing.
Keep it steady with enhanced VC
We?ve fine-tuned our original VC (Vibration Compensation) system with an enhanced control algorithm and an independent MPU dedicated to VC. Together, they meet a CIPA image stabilization performance level of 4 stops. While most ultra-telephoto lenses are prone to camera shake, the Model A035 delivers excellent stability for reliable, stress-free handheld shooting.
Optional tripod mount expands your shooting style
Using a tripod is as easy as shooting handheld with the Model A035. A thoughtfully designed grip makes it easy to handle. Plus Arca-Swiss release compatibility and an easily detachable tripod mount improve speed and flexibility. An optional tripod lets you choose the most suitable way to shoot the subject and help to express your creativity.
Better bokeh, Greater stability
With a minimum object distance of 1.5m (59 in) and a maximum image magnification of 1:3.6, the Model A035 can zoom in on a subject smoothly, resulting in close-up shooting with a soft, blurred effect.
Reduce flare and ghosting with eBAND and BBAR
Two highly developed lens coating technologies, eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency), which uses nanotechnology, and BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) combine to increase light transmission and to reduce flare and ghosting to imperceptible levels. The lens delivers high contrast, sharp and clear images.
Moisture-Resistant Construction protects your lens
For greater protection when shooting outdoors, leak-proof seals throughout the lens barrel help protect your equipment.
Compatible with the TAMRON TAP-in Console™
The optional TAP-in Console™ provides a USB connection to your personal computer, enabling you to easily update your lens’s firmware as well as customize features including fine adjustments to the AF and VC.
Fluorine Coating for protection and safe cleaning
The front surface of the lens element is coated with a protective fluorine compound that is water- and oil-repellant. The lens surface is easier to wipe clean and is less vulnerable to the damaging effects of dirt, dust, moisture and fingerprints.
Two exclusive new teleconverters
Two exclusive teleconverters, which match the optics of the new 100-400mm F/4.5-6.3, offer 1.4x and 2.0x magnification, and provide a maximum zoom range up to 800mm. These new teleconverters extend the focal length of the master lens, making it possible to take pictures in farther ultra-telephoto ranges.
Electromagnetic diaphragm system compatible with Nikon cameras
An electromagnetic diaphragm system, which has been a standard feature for Canon-mount lenses, is employed in Nikon-mount lenses*. More precise diaphragm and aperture control is possible because the diaphragm blades are driven and controlled by a motor through electronic pulse signals.
