I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch of the new FujiFilm Instax Square SQ6 camera in Sydney earlier this week. It was myself, a few other retailers and many 'instaXplorers' - photographers and influencers chosen by FujiFilm to become ambassadors for the new camera.
Over the last 5 years, there has been a renewed interest in instant photography. Many young people in particular, who weren't exposed to instant photography growing up, are engaging with the technology for the first time. People seem to be drawn to the the tactility of the experience and revel in the idea of having the memories represented as something tangible.
I have really enjoyed shooting this new SQ6 camera. It is surprisingly light and the menu system is sleek and easy to navigate. I like the size of the film too - it's about 75% bigger than the credit card sized Instax mini film and captures more information (I also really like the square format).
My favourite feature is the double exposure function. I had a lot of fun experimenting with this. The selfie mode and mirror make taking pictures with friends super easy as you know you won't miss a shot!
