Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II Development Announcement

September 23, 2016

We are excited to announce the development of the long awaited Olympus OM-D
E-M1 Mark II.

The OM-D E-M1 Mark II is packed with an array of shooting features making new types of imaging expression possible. It possesses high-speed performance that cannot be imitated, 18 frames per second in AF/AE tracking and 60 frames per second in AE/AF lock have been realised, those split second moments will now never be missed.

The newly developed TruePic VII image processor, 20.4 Megapixel Live MOS sensor equipped with the new 121-point all cross-type On-chip Phase Detection AF sensor, and advanced 5-axis Image Stabilisation culminates in excellent image quality and responsiveness. ISO 64 equivalent, improved image quality at high sensitivity settings, ultra-high resolution image quality with 50MP 'High Res Shot' available and continued development makes our new flagship model one that will be loved by all photo enthusiasts.

A compact, lightweight body that is splashproof, dustproof, and freezeproof provides unrivalled mobility and ultimate reliability, allowing you to shoot in the most severe environments.

The OM-D E-M1 Mark II also boasts Digital Cinema Standard 4K (4096 x 2060 pixels) for authentic movie production. The 20.4 Megapixel Live MOS sensor provides a sensor read out speed three times faster than previous models for effective suppression of movement distortion that tends to occur when shooting movies, and for sharp, clear image quality in movies. The movie-specific Picture Mode "Flat" is perfect for colour grading to create footage exactly how you wish.

Combining the powerful 5-axis image stabilisation system with electronic stabilisation for video makes it possible to shoot high-quality 4K movies handheld without cinematic equipment such as tripods, a mini jib, crane, etc.

By developing the 20M Live MOS sensor together with the TruePic VIII image processor, not only has image quality exponentially improved from past OM-D models, but high speed performance has been realised. The electronic viewfinder provides a smooth and fast display at a 120fps frame rate and a 0.006 second display time lag, so you will never miss a shot. In addition to all of the functions, continued firmware updates will become available to further enhance photographic performance. The new flagship OM-D will change the world of photography.
